SLL Chair’s Report: December 2022

Society of Labour Lawyers (SLL) held Housing and Employment Westminster workshops, to discuss our upcoming book. Many of our groups are working towards these chapters and Thom Brooks is helping to pull our proposal together for prospective publishers.

The Energy and Environment group held a panel event on Ofgem and the energy crisis.

The Access to Justice group launched with their inaugural meeting.

In terms of our Parliamentary Advice Scheme, we have advised on the Cumbria Coal Mine and energy procurement rules.

We also received 47 applications to our mentoring scheme, this is the highest ever number of applicants.

On 7 December 2022 we held our Annual General Meeting, which was our first hybrid event. We held a panel event at this AGM on ‘Insight into Inquiries’ and were joined by Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, Steve Reed MP, Pete Weatherby KC and Marcia Wills KC. Many thanks to all those who came, those who stood for positions, our panel speakers and to Lord Charlie Falconer and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP for allowing us to use their offices. Congratulations to the newly elected EC, which can be found here.
