April Chair’s Report

Catherine Atkinson, Chair Society of Labour Lawyers

This month SLL members have been campaigning for local elections up and down the country and as one of the 21 Socialist Societies affiliated to the Labour Party we are also looking forward to the Socialist Societies dialogue phone bank on 3 May.

‘How could the next Labour Government Use Trade Policy to tackle the climate and environmental emergency’ was the title of our SLL event with WWF lawyer, Katrina Walter and leading European Trade expert Sam Lowe hosted by our Trade and EU Group.

Advice for the Shadow Front Bench has continued with ongoing work on economic crime, online harms, MOD procurement, Russia sanctions, single sex spaces and P&O disqualification. We are looking forward to an Advisory Scheme event in Parliament next month with some well earned drinks.

On top of the campaigning, advisory work and our usual Exec and Group meetings, we even managed to squeeze in some fun with a Junior Labour Lawyer Social.
